does freefilesync realtime currently work well between a local drive and google drive?
Even with MANY files?

RTS doesn't work when monitoring a Google Drive location. You can have RTS monitor just the local directory, it is up to you to determine if that is sufficient for your use.
RTS works fine with an infinite number of files, but the more important thing is how often data is being changed in a monitored location. If changes occur every X seconds and X<idle time, RTS will never trigger a sync
