Re: crashes and hangs
Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. I'm using 1.18, on XP. I have 1gb of Ram and a 2.4 single core processor. I was transfering data from a file server on my network to an external harddrive attached to my workstation. The total size of all the files was 150gb and there were a lot of files...

Re: A bug
No problem! Actually I can understand your confusion and have fixed it for the next release: If you add a new folder pair, the list of pairs automatically gets scrolled down to the bottom. This even helps in two ways: 1. If you add a new pair you would scroll down anyway. 2. Confusion like you exper...

Re: A bug
Hi Zenju, I think I have found a bug. If you put in all four permitted folder pairs and then click on the "Add folder pair" button again, two black arrows appear on the left side in-between the second and third folder pair and third and fourth folder pair. If you then try to compare the f...

Re: Speed
Hi Zenju, I am synchronizing (mirror) from my laptop to a personal server about 30000 files. 99% of the files are less than 200KB, and 75% less than 20KB. With ViceVersa the speed is between 50 and 500 KB/s, with FreeFileSync speed is less than 10 KB/s and can stay below 2 KB/s for some time. Is th...

Re: Speed
Hi JeanPierre, I am not aware that the sync algorithm wastes cpu-time at some point 'cause basically what it does is, it passes the files to be copied to the WIN32 API. Did you also compare the whole runtime? What is the ratio ViceVersa / FFS? I'll do some performance measurements with vice versa wh...

Re: Conflicts
Hi Jean-Pierre,
it's possible to drag-select multiple rows and assign a sync-direction. But even this might be difficult for 1700 files. I'll add an option to the context-menu to do that, similarly to the right-click filtering options.
Regards, Zenju

Re: 1.17 not copying files in /Users (Vista)
I woke up this morning after having FreeFileSync complete a full backup of my hard drive. It completed successfully. However, errors popped up for 347 files, mostly concerned with locked files or files in use. The files came from two directories: The "c:\users" directory and the "c:\...

Re: New version great! but ...
Hi Rog, you're right! Due to the new concept, it's not clear which mode you're using. Though the sync preview is meant to fill this (information) gap, I also think that it's valuable to see which sync-variant is chosen (though technically there is no such thing such as sync-variant, just the individ...

Re: One step forward, one step back
Hi Bob, >> change copy direction for all files at once. You can change several lines at once by selecting multiple rows in the middle grid. (Works for temporary filtering as well as for all sync-directions) Moreover the switch functionality is not lost. It's in the middle grid context menu. I try ha...

Re: exclude folder from compare scan?
Hi, the behaviour up to v1.18 is to scan everything and apply the filter AFTER comparison. Responding to feedback communicated here [404, Invalid URL: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=2794720&group_id=234430&atid=1093081] I am changing the behaviour to apply while compari...

Re: File time changes due to daylight savings
Firstly thanks Zenju for your great answer on subfolder synchronisation. I do have one more question. A lot of my files have a one hour difference due to daylight savings even though they are identical. I know that some synchronisation software can ignore this 1 hour difference when looking at what...

Re: Subfolder synchronisation
Thank you so much for making such useful software - I have spent a long time looking for a good synchronization tool and I have now found it in FreeFileSync. It would be nice though to have a good help file as at the moment I am confused as to whether there is an option to NOTsychronize sub-folders...
