Oh, I am pretty sure that is going to make the traffic go through the Mac and back to the NAS.

Re: Realtime Sync Monitoring USB does not trigger
Whenever RTS sometimes works and sometimes doesn't, it is either a location going in/out or an idle time 'issue'. Sounds like location presence isn't the most likely cause, so it is probably idle time. There may be times when something is accessing/changing something in one of the monitored location...

Re: Synology NAS - USB to NAS
Sounds like it is running at USB 2.0 speeds. Check the cable and port you are using. Sometimes you get a weird insertion and it doesn't negotiate correctly, so try replugging it. Also try different cables if that doesn't help

This is from 6 years ago and was fixed already. Who knows if it's the same issue that cropped up again or something unrelated that leads to the same error?

Re: newbie Question
If it can be reached via File Explorer, FFS can use it As stated above, if you can access Meshnet devices using File Explorer, you should be able select the location(s) in FFS as well. Meshnet is likely using its own proprietary authentication and access methods, meaning you likely won't be able to...

Directories ending with a "." are invalid for most file systems, so this likely isn't an error and is consistent with native functionality

Re: Synchronisation Settings - Left delete -> Right create new
In FFS, there really is no "source" and "destination" since data could be going either way. The way those actions work is by row, then column. For example, your first picture shows: If an item is deleted in the right location, then copy the item from the left side to the right si...

Re: Just making sure this top highlighted item is not a issue
Sounds correct. I assume you meant "Task Scheduler", not "Task Manager". If so, your configuration might be set to stop syncing if there are errors, so then the user can read it and choose what to do next. Since user interaction isn't allowed/possible, it must be detecting that t...

If you are logged into OneDrive on both devices, shouldn't it already be kept in sync? There will be some delay of course, but the whole point of OneDrive is to have your data synced up between devices

For the smartphone, MTP is likely they root issue, and MTP sucks

For the USB drive, it could have failing NAND, failing controller, or the VeraCrypt layer is causing an issue.
How you tried with another USB key with a new VeraCrypt setup?

Re: error
Set deletions to be permanent in the sync settings or figure out a way to get access to the Recycle Bin on the network device. It likely doesn't have one though

Your response to my post is, in fact, how I also understood it. I may not have worded it correctly, as more specifically it is almost a local setting under a local sync-pair. We seem to be in agreeance

Re: [FeatureReq] Versioning on both sides
Sounds like OP is requesting that each location have its own versioning path, and then deleted/overwritten files would go to the locally specified versioning path instead of the global one configured for the configuration. Similar to how global and local filters work now.

Re: RealTimeSync does not monitor multiple \\?\Volume
Isn't this intended behavior? It sounds like OP wants to monitor multiple locations and have a sync fire off if any one becomes mounted, and not all will be mounted at a time. But RTS doesn't work unless all monitored locations are accessible. I looked here: https://freefilesync.org/manual.php?topic...

No. Compared to Google's size, neither an individual or a program-community our size is even a blip on the radarWould the FreeFileSync team have more leverage than individuals like me in getting these issues addressed? dwhutton, 23 Apr 2024, 18:23

Re: change of directory timestamps
To be honest, the need to keep that timestamp intact is incredibly rare. The positives that come with these features severely outweigh the consequences for 99.99% of users and uses. as like everyone else I use timestamps to observe when directories where last changed I don't use them. File modificat...

1) Nothing special. Use the same FFS configuration setup and the same locations, should be fine. 2) No, FFS doesn't include any 'duplication detection' features 3) Versioning is per-configuration. Not sure what a basket is referring to, it may be worth clarifying your terminology to be more accurate...
