Re: FFS 9.5 does not run on Mint Cinnamon 18.2

Then I take it that there is no solution to this problem and FFS 9.5 is unable to run on Mint Cinnamon 18.2. Will you be updating your web-site to advise users who download this version that it cannot be used in that environment?

I also said something about "...people who are only users of this app (i.e not people with in-depth Linux skills, especially with the CLI)...

As I said: "This appears to be very similar to the entry in this forum of 6 Nov. 2017 (FFS 9.5 does not run on Ubuntu 17.04), for which I cannot see any solution."

FFS 9.5 does not run on Mint Cinnamon 18.2

This appears to be very similar to the entry in this forum of 6 Nov. 2017 (FFS 9.5 does not run on Ubuntu 17.04), for which I cannot see any solution. I'm running Mint 18.2 Cinnamon, with kernel 4.10.0-40-generic. I can download and unpack either the Ubuntu or Debian versions of 9.5 64 bit, but doub...

How to Install FFS in Linux

I have downloaded the version for 64 bit Ubuntu; it's a file of type tar.gz. Excellent! Now what do I do with it? I see elsewhere in the forum is advice to 'run FFS from the command line'. OK, but I can't find any information in the forum under the topic 'how to run FFS from the commend line'. Is th...

Re: How to access a NAS drive from FFS from Linux (repeat)

Does your NAS have an IP address? \\162.162.162.162\Path_to_Share\Share_Name\ to \\My_Backup\Share_Name\ Yes, my NAS has an IP address and I use that all the time to access the NAS from every other application in my LInux Mint system - it's only FFS that cannot use it. I do not understand to what v...

Re: How to access a NAS drive from FFS from Linux (repeat)

There is a nice way : install a nfs share on your NAS, and then you can access it as a local folder. For example, in my /etc/fstab there is : [… … …] synology:/volume1 /nfs/synovol1 nfs rw,noauto,nofail,x-systemd.automount,x-systemd.requires=network-online.target,x-systemd.device-timeout=30,user 0 ...

How to access a NAS drive from FFS from Linux (repeat)

I asked this question some months ago but there was no effective answer, leading me to conclude that this might not be possible under Linux. But I'm going to try again: how do I 'find' my NAS drive when choosing which folder to browse in FFS under Linux?

Re: How to access a NAS drive from FFS

Well, that's interesting: I have been asking for some time on a growing set of forums how a NAS drive can be used with FFS, under linux. Nobody seems to know. Is this something that FFS cannot do? It works OK under Windows.

Re: How to access a NAS drive from FFS

The NAS drive controller (Iomega Home Media Network Drive) is running a highly customisd version of Linux, but of what 'flavour' I cannot tell. The drive itself is formatted as XFS, presumably because this particular NAS is able to be used as an iTunes streamer (which I do not use). In normal use I ...

How to access a NAS drive from FFS

'm running Linux Mint 18 Cinnamon 64-bit. I just installed FreeFileSync 8.3. I want to synchronise between folders in my Home folder and those on a NAS drive. I cannot see the NAS drive when I select the 'browse' option to choose a folder for compare. How do I access a NAS drive?
